HST Experience – Sea and Nature
This park, established in 1998. Situated across central and eastem Sardinia, it includes the Golfo di Orosei (from Dorgali to Arbatax), the Supramonte area, part of the Barbagia area and the Gennargentu massif. It features interesting geo-morphological phenomena, like the gorges of Su Gorrupu, the valley of Lanaittu – with the Tiscali chasm-, the crater of Su Suercone and the karst hole of Su Sterru.
Animal life is also very abundant and includes in particular wild boars, mouflons, wild cats, martens, golden eagles, peregrine falcons and common ravens.
The territory features areas of thick Mediterranean bushland, large cork-oak woods, centuries-old holm-oak forests and downy-oak forests.
The exceptional flower life includes rare endemic species.
The Golfo di Orosei‘s coastline has high limestone cliffs and sandy beaches, at the mouths of the island streams.
One of the most famouse beaches of Sardinia, Cala Goloritzé born from a landslide in 1962 is famous for the 143-metre high pinnacle that overlooks the cove.
Cala Mariolu, the pearl of the Gulf of Orosei, an intimate cove characterized by white and pink pebbles.
Cala Luna, characteristic for the presence of some caves and creeks in the part in front of the shore, due to the action of erosion of the sea on the rock of limestone origin, famous for its beauty and particularity, and has been used as a frame for the recording of some films.
